Enjoy some of America's most recognized and beloved music - music that lifted our nation's spirit in a trying time - music of the Big Band era - legends like Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, the Dorsey Brothers, Duke Ellington, Music's Golden Age also brought us Broadway musicals that live on generation after generation, from names like Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Lowe. You don't have to be from this era to love the music.
For some, this is our parents' music, the music we heard growing up, in a kinder and gentler time. Others are discovering the magic of swing for the first time. And, of course, from Oklahoma to South Pacific, 1940's musicals continue to be favorites in high school productions.
Cloud Nine, in association with the Centenary-Chenango Street Players, takes us on A Sentimental Journey, performed in the style of a mock radio broadcast from a cabaret lounge. There'll be a few surprises to bring a laugh or two as well as a smile to a music-filled two-hour program.
Join us in the Great Hall of the Centenary-Chenango Street United Methodist Church. Parking is available on the street or behind the church. Admission $10. For reservations and information, call (607) 754-1536
