The most popular Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, and arguably the most popular opera ever written. This operetta has delighted audiences for more than a century, and spawned a number of imitations. But none were nearly as good as the original, which represented both Gilbert and Sullivan at the height of their creative geniuses.
A satire on all things Japanese, the plot features the typical Gilbert & Sullivan twists & turns, showcasing bigger than life characters like KoKo the Lord High Executioner, Yum Yum the lovesick maiden, and Nanki-Poo the strolling musician.
