Old Music Creates Youthful Chill
7th Century Music Helps the Kids Chill Out The ongoing, near tedious debate on the health and well-being of classical music has a new wrinkle. One of the oldest, and perhaps the original form of classical music, has found a new audience and is joining the ranks of superstar rock groups.

The "group" is actually made up of singers - monks from the Stift Heiligenkreuz Abbey just outside of Vienna, Austria. The music they sing is the singular melodic line known as "Chant," dating back to the 7th century.

Their spokesperson, or "Media Monk," Father Karl Wallner says his Brothers in the monastery are attracting fans of pop superstars like Madonna and Amy Winehouse.

More information on the Monks of the Stift Heiligenkreuz Abbey and their CD, CHANT: MUSIC FOR THE SOUL, is available here.
