Stimulus Check Deadline Approaches CARBONDALE, IL (wsiu) - Remember that October 15th is the deadline for individuals who did not file income taxes this year to apply for the federal economic stimulus checks.

The $300 checks are for non-working Social Security beneficiaries, disabled veterans and veteran's widows who apply and can show at least $3,000 in Social Security or veterans' disability benefits.

Local senior centers can help older adults apply for their check. Individuals can also file an application on their own by using a simplified version of IRS tax form 1040A.

These forms are available by calling toll-free 1-800-829-1040 and on the internet.
