Gas Prices Fall
(2008-09-18)
(wsiu) - The price of gasoline has been slow to fall, but it is falling.
That's the word from AAA spokesperson Beth Mosher. She says the price of gas in Illinois for September is down 11 cents from last month, at three dollars 81 cents.
The price decline had been delayed by hurricanes Gustav and Ike, which disrupted refinery operation along the gulf coast. And Mosher says prices will continue to fall, unless there is another disruption.
The reason for the lower prices comes with the lower cost of crude oil, which has dropped sharply from over 150 dollars a barrel to now 96 a barrel.
The price of gasoline one year ago in Illinois was $3.09.
