EPA Cleans Up an Illegal Dump Site in Jackson Co.
The IEPA started the clean-up this week at a site along Macedonia Road near Pomona.
Spokesperson Maggie Carson says the EPA will remove debris, plastic, tires and various household wastes. She says the removal of illegal dumps is a public health issue.
Carson says the clean-up near Pomona is funded through the state's IRID program...which has cleaned up around 200 sites from Cave-In-Rock to Chicago since it began in 2006.
She says residents can help reduce the number of illegal dumps by finding a waste hauler to dispose of their trash safely or by doing more recycling.
