Prevention Of Violence Against Women Workshop To Be Held Wednesday CARBONDALE, IL (wsiu) - A workshop focused on the prevention of violence against women will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at the SIUC Student Health Center.
Spawned out of a similar event that ran during Men Against Violence Week last Spring, the "These Hands Don't Hurt" workshop is designed to encourage men to take a proactive step in the issue of violence against women.
Workshop Coordinator and SIUC Graduate Student, Derrick Williams, says that he hopes that the workshop will encourage men to utilizing what he describes as male privilege to become active in the issue of sexual assault prevention.
Williams says that he also hopes to spread awareness about the organization, Progressive Masculinities Mentors.... An organization that was started last year, which Williams also coordinates.
The "These Hands Don't Hurt" workshop will be held at the SIUC Student Health Center tomorrow (Wednesday) in room 111--112 at 5 PM
