Senator Pushes For Underperforming Schools To Get More Funding
The program would cost 120 million dollars over three years, focusing on under performing schools in four areas of the state.
Meeks says the idea is to show lawmakers, business leaders and the public what can happen if enough money, student assessment and accountability are in place.
Meeks' ultimate goal is to make education funding more equitable by swapping property taxes as the main source of revenue, in favor of income taxes. He says this pilot project could prove that's the way to go.
