Illinois Parks And Historic Sites Open Longer Than Expected
The Blagojevich administration is delaying closure of about two dozen state sites while it sorts out the personnel changes involved.
Instead of closing on October 1st, the historic sites will close on October 15th. And the parks will shut down at the end of November instead of the beginning of that month.
Blagojevich spokeswoman Kelley Quinn says the administration underestimated how long it would take to resolve personnel issues, such as union concerns.
The democratic governor ordered the cuts to help close a two billion dollar budget deficit.
