Power Coming Back Online
(2008-09-16)
(wsiu) - Sunday's high winds that caused thousands of power outages are another example of the strange weather in southern Illinois this year.
Ameren Spokesman Leigh Morris says the utility has had to restore power after ice storms, severe flooding - and now wind damage.
Morris says restoring power following Sunday's high winds is going well in part because Mother Nature has cooperated with calm weather.
He says at the height of the wind damage, around 48-thousand people were without power in the region. As of this morning, roughly 150 customers were still without power in the Ameren service area, while about 100 were out in the Southern Illinois Power Cooperative area.
