Ameren to Restore Everyone's Power by late Tuesday SPRINGFIELD, IL (wsiu) - Ameren says they hope to have power back to all are residents by late Tuesday night.

Outages began early Sunday morning after high winds hit the area. At the height of the outages, 48,000 were without power.

Ameren has about seven hundred personnel working to restore power in the southern Illinois region.

Spokesman Leigh Morris says several Ameren crews had to travel more than 300 miles to reach the area because other contractors in the region were already dispatched to help with hurricane relief efforts along the gulf coast.
