Carbondale Hit Hard by High Winds CARBONDALE, IL (wsiu) - Power is being restored to all parts of Carbondale after winds as high as 56mph blew through town Sunday morning.

City Manager Allen Gill says the southwest part of town seemed to be the hardest hit, but the damage was very widespread.

Gill says city crews are working with Ameren to restore power to the affected areas.

He says the city is offering a free limb pick up service. Gill says residents need to get the limbs to the curb and city crews will pick them up on the normal trash day schedule.
