Mid-Skill Jobs To Be In Demand
(2009-10-21)
(wsiu) - Training for your next career - or your first - should not be confined to four years within ivy-covered walls. That's according to a new study.

Rachel Unruh, national campaign director for Skills2Compete, part of the Workforce Alliance, says there's going to be a demand for middle-skill jobs. She explains that means jobs that require more than a high school diploma but not a bachelor's degree.

Unruh says there should be openings in green energy, health care and construction, and suggests people use the current economic slump to get training in one of those fields.

She says a four-year college degree is needed for some careers but also is a byproduct of a "one size fits all" model that no longer fits.
