Abortion Notification Law Delayed Until At Least January
That's after a circuit court judge decided to uphold a restraining order preventing enforcement of the law until at least January.
He says he's waiting for briefs from both sides before determining whether the law should stand.
Attorney Lorie Chaiten represented the American Civil Liberties Union in court Thursday.
She says notifying parents about an abortion should be a matter of choice for Illinois teens.
Chaiten says the 14-year-old law is unconstitutional in the state.
More than 47 thousand Illinois women sought abortions in 2008. The A-C-L-U estimates about ten percent were teens.
