Duncan Defends His Record
During an afternoon march and protest, State Senator James Meeks said the district has failed to make enough progress and that Duncan isn't qualified to lead.
But Duncan says recent district-wide gains on the state achievement test and a surge in teaching applications are proof the district is heading in the right direction.
More than a thousand men followed Meeks on the march from Walter Payton College Prep High School in the Old Town neighborhood to federal plaza in the loop.
