Shimkus Calls Fort Hood Shooting Spree Unthinkable WASHINGTON, D.C. (wsiu) - A southern Illinois Congressman says his prayers are with the family and friends of soldiers stationed at Fort Hood, Texas... after Thursday's horrific shooting spree.

John Shimkus is a West Point graduate and an Army veteran. He says the act was unthinkable.

Shimkus says he has friends stationed at Fort Hood, but he hasn't had a chance to get in touch with them to make sure they are OK.

He says time will tell what action, if any, is necessary to further enhance the security at military installations all over the country and across the world.
