(Michigan Radio) -

Michigan motorists will feel the wrath of Hurricane Ike this weekend.

TRIPLE A spokeswoman Nancy Cain predicts gasoline prices will soar over 4 dollars a gallon.

She says Ike has forced Texas oil refineries to shutdown, cutting off the region's gasoline supply.

"We may escape the most severe scenario. And if we do, it won't take as long to get the refineries back up and running. It just really depends on how Ike hits, and where it hits," says Cain.

Cain does not expect gasoline prices will rise above the state's all time record high of 4 dollars-21 cents a gallon for regular unleaded.
