Purdue team gears up for Flugtag
(2008-08-03)
(wbaa) - Four Purdue aerospace students will compete in an upcoming competition in Chicago.

The flying contest will bring together more than 30 Midwestern teams. Participants will be judged on flight time, creativity and sportsmanship.

The teams design their own planes and pilot them over a 25-foot ramp into Lake Michigan.

Purdue captain Aaron Wypyszynski says safety measures are in place to protect the pilot.

Wypyszynski hopes the team will impress judges with their boilermaker-themed aircraft.

The Red Bull Flugtag will be held on September 6th near North Avenue Beach in Chicago. Flugtag is German for flying day.
