'Studio 360:' Girls on Film
Host Kurt Andersen, his daughter Lucy, and NYU Kanbar film school dean Sheril Antonio take on the portrayal of women on film on Studio 360.

by Kurt Andersen

Listen to the show:

At New York University's Kanbar film school, undergrads are training to be the next generation of filmmakers. Jocelyn Gonzales talked to some of her students, and the school's associate dean, Sheril Antonio, about the ways female characters are portrayed on screen and what they plan to do about it. From Cinderella to Bridget Jones, they've got a few bones to pick with the female characters they grew up watching on screen.

PRI's Peabody Award-winning "Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen" from WNYC is public radio's smart and surprising guide to what's happening in pop culture and the arts. Each week, Kurt Andersen introduces you to the people who are creating and shaping our culture. Life is busy — so let "Studio 360" steer you to the must-see movie this weekend, the next book for your nightstand, or the song that will change your life.
