The state Department of Environmental Conservation is working to prepare regulations on natural gas drilling in the state's Marcellus Shale.

The rules will cover the use of hydrofracking, the process of pumping water, sand and chemicals at high pressure into underground rock layers to break them up so natural gas can escape and be captured.
But WRVO's Innovation Trail reporter Emma Jacobs tells us that environmental groups say the rules don't go far enough to protect the state's drinking water.
