Harold Frederic, 19th Century Utica Literary Luminary. Wednesday, May 28, 7:30 p.m. at The Other Side Gallery, 2011 Genesee St. Utica, NY. Amateur historian Marshall Williams will give a talk on Frederic, that will include advocating for formal public recognition of Frederic's still standing home on South St., in Utica. Frederic is the author of The Damnation of Theron Ware, a highly regarded American classic novel. Frederic was an interesting figure in any case; while serving as London correspondent for the NY Times, he published a book called The New Exodus: A Study of Israel in Russia (1892), an expose that got him and the entire NY Times staff banned from Russiaa Lecture is free to the public, donations welcome.
