The Inns of Aurora to Host Soup Making Class: Hands-On Cooking Class Teaches a Variety of Soups and Accompaniments Aurora, N.Y.—On Tuesday, March 12, the Inns of Aurora is slated to present the next in its series of cooking classes, Fundamentals of Soup. This small, hands-on class runs from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and costs $75 per person. The price includes a full meal, served at 8:30, of the dishes prepared throughout the class—participation is extremely limited to twelve spots. Students will learn to make a cream-based soup, a broth-based soup, chowder varieties, and several accompaniments, including breads, cheeses, salads, and hors d’oeuvres. Over the course of the evening’s class, Executive Chef Patrick Higgins will instruct participants using demonstrations and guiding hands-on practice behind the scenes in the Aurora Inn Dining Room’s kitchen. Meryl Davis, wine curator and Director of Marketing for the Inns, will be keeping bar, crafting signature cocktails, and pouring wine. “Soup is a cornerstone of our culinary heritage,” comments Davis. “Tomato bisque is restorative on a cold quiet day, a big festive pot of clam chowder is a year-round crowd pleaser, and everyone has childhood memories of chicken noodle.
