"I hope it was a gesture that will be repeated by others to help expose children to the wonders of music. As a trumpet player myself from the age of 9, it was only through the music programs in the public schools I was able to enjoy my lifelong love of music and playing an instrument. In these hard economic times it is crucial that our young children have the same opportunity with the help of organizations like WRTI and Musicopia. My donation is but one small drop in a bucket of instruments needed to fulfill this ongoing gift of music. Since my donation, I'm happy to have noticed more on-air solicitations on WRTI for more donations. Hopefully others will heed the call." --Tyrone Wims
If you can add an instrument to our growing list, please get in touch with WRTI's Kristine Plegaria at Kristine@wrti.org or 215-204-8405.
WRTI agrees with Mr. Wims that live music and music education are essential to the quality of life we enjoy in our community and must be encouraged at every turn. Recently, we found ourselves with extras copies of The A to Z of Classical Music from our Member Drives, and thought - what better way to help young musicians in our community than providing them with a dictionary of important composers, works, recordings, genres, and a glossary to enhance their classical music knowledge.
