Southern U's new chief to get $295,000
Chancellor Kofi Lomotey will be paid 245,000 dollars as salary, 35,000 dollars for housing and 15,000 dollars for car expenses.
At Friday's meeting, the board also approved the chancellor runner-up -- Napoleon Moses of Alcorn State University -- as the new system vice president. That job has been vacant for more than two years, since Ralph Slaughter was promoted to system president.
Moses was vice president of academic affairs at Alcorn. He will receive 155,000 dollars a year at Southern.
Lomotey also combined two other jobs to create a new position of executive vice chancellor and provost, or chief academic officer. That job will be held by Mwalimu Shujaa, of Medgar Evers College in New York, at 175,000 dollars a year. © Copyright 2009, wrkf
