Health insurance going up for Shreveport employees
City administrator Tom Dark says that premiums will go up by almost 17 percent. Co-payments for primary care doctors will stay the same $25. But for specialists, the co-payments go up to $50.
The city workers' insurance board voted for the changes Wednesday. Higher fees will start in December.
The changes will affect most of Shreveport's 2,500 city workers and many of its retirees.
Dark says the city has paid about $20 million in claims the past two years, while taking in about $19 million. © Copyright 2009, wrkf
