Dupree gets new contract as Monroe schools chief
(2008-09-18)
(wrkf) - Monroe City Schools Superintendent James Dupree has a new contract and a $5,000 raise.

The action by the Monroe school board this week brings his base salary to $135,000 a year.

Back in March the board had voted not to renew Dupree's contract. In April, Board member Rodney McFarland requested the board revisit its decision. The board voted to stick to its decision not to rehire Dupree.

A superintendent search committee was formed, and the board hired a search committee liaison.

In August, the board voted to reject the committee's choices and to rehire Dupree.

The contract approved Tuesday is for two years and nine months.
