FEC: La. congressman filed campaign report late ASSOCIATED PRESS (wrkf) - Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson, under federal indictment on bribery charges, filed a required campaign finance report two days after deadline that shows his re-election campaign is $250,000 in debt.

A spokeswoman from the Federal Elections Commission said the New Orleans Democrat could face a fine for filing the report late.

Jefferson faces six challengers in a September 6th Democratic primary. His campaign did not return calls to comment on the FEC report. © Copyright 2009, wrkf
