Recall petition filed against Mandeville mayor
(2008-08-26)
(wrkf) - A recall effort is under way against Mandeville Mayor Eddie Price.

The recall petition, filed Monday, follows the recent release of a state legislative audit revealing that Price accepted golfing and hunting vacations from companies that do business with the city, awarded contracts to relatives and ran up personal charges on a city credit card.

Earlier this year, Price crashed through a tollbooth barrier at the Pontchartrain Causeway and was stopped, then let go by police officers without receiving a field sobriety test or a ticket. Four officers lost their jobs after an investigation determined that Price had received preferential treatment.

Under state law, one-third of the city's 7,992 registered voters must sign the petition for a recall election to be held.
