Art museum program about post-disaster creativity NEW ORLEANS (AP) (wrkf) - Creativity after disaster is the theme of a program August 27 at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

The museum will show two short films, followed by a conversation with filmmakers Mel Chin and Ivor Shearer.

Chin's animated film, "9-11/9-11," is about love and hope wrecked by power and two events 23 years apart on September 11. One is the terror attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. The other is the 1973 military overthrow of Chilean President Salvador Allende, during which 3,200 people were killed for political reasons.

Shearer's "Last Things" portrays a surreal world in which the federal government has closed New Orleans off from the rest of the country.

The program is scheduled to be near the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. It is free to Louisiana residents. © Copyright 2009, wrkf
