evacuation ordered for residents living below the Intracoastal Waterway CAMERON, LA. (AP) (wrkf) - The Cameron Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness called a mandatory evacuation this morning for the few residents still living below the Intracoastal Waterway.

Eddie Benoit, assistant director of the office, says deputies will put up roadblocks at 5 p.m.

He says about 5,000 to 6,000 people lived in that area before Hurricane Rita struck in September 2005, and now "probably a couple thousand" live there. © Copyright 2009, wrkf
