Hammond gets post-Katrina grant
Officials hope to begin this fall the yearlong process of redoing Hammond's old master plan.
The North Shore Community Foundation, established 18 months ago, was created with the help of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation to offer grants to nonprofit groups and government entities to improve communities in St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington and St. Helena parishes.
Officials say Hammond is the first to receive a $75,000 planning grant from the foundation. The city will put up $75,000 for the plan.
