ENO files for rate reduction
(2008-08-01)
(wrkf) - Citing a returning population to New Orleans, the unit of Entergy Corporation that serves the city has filed to reduce power rates and generating fuel costs, while raising natural gas rates.

In a filing Thursday with the City Council, Entergy New Orleans Incorporated proposed a $23 million reduction in electric rates and the fuel adjustment charge.

ENO said the proposal would translate into a monthly saving of $6.40 per 1,000 kilowatt hours.

Rod West, the unit's CEO, said the increased number of customers, along with a program of managing costs, resulted in the filing.

ENO has 141,000 power customers and 88,000 gas customers in New Orleans.
