Grand jury to probe Taser death
Winn Parish District Attorney Chris Nevils announced Monday that the grand jury is scheduled to convene on August 12 and begin hearing evidence in the death of 21-year-old Baron Pikes.
Scott Nugent was arresting Pikes on a warrant for drug possession in January when he used the 50,000-volt Taser on him.
The city of Winnfield fired Nugent in May, but he is appealing. Last month, a coroner ruled that Pikes' death was a homicide. © Copyright 2009, wrkf
