Motorola Taps New CEO
(2007-12-12)
(wqub) - Schaumburg-based Motorola will move into the new year with a new chief executive.President and Chief Operating Officer Greg Brown will replace C-E-O Ed Zander in January. That's as the company continues its efforts to stay profitable. Chicago Public Radio's Mike Rhee reports.

Motorola lost money for three straight quarters before turning its first profit late this year. That required layoffs and other cost-cutting measures.
Morningstar analyst Jordan Zounis says in the last six months, Ed Zander really shook up the company at its executive level.

ZOUNIS: So if you look at Ed Zander's departure right now, I think it's really coming at a time where he's already made almost all the changes he would've made during his tenure anyway, and so I think he's going to go ahead, step down and let somebody else see that to fruition.

Zounis says he expects a new Chief Financial Officer to be named in coming months as well.Incoming C-E-O Greg Brown joined Motorola in 2003, and became President and Chief Operating Officer in March.
