Study Says Women Lag in Executive Positions in Chicago CHICAGO, IL (wqub) - Women have made minimal gains in achieving higher ranks at Chicago's 50 largest public companies over the last decade. That's according to a report released by the Chicago Network -- an organization of professional women.
The Chicago Network's Donni Case says gender stereotypes are still an issue.

"Some people will think they're too soft. Others will think they're too harsh. You also have to overcome resistance to women in leadership roles. These are sort of long-established prejudices."

The report says the total number of women directors is up. Women still only account for 14 percent of all directors.
The report says if the trend continues, it'll take more than 80 years for women to achieve equal representation as directors and executives.
