Lewis University to offer Air Traffic Controller Curriculum
Bill Brogan chairs the school's Department of Aviation and Transportation Studies. He says air traffic controllers face an enormous responsibility.
"I think that the young men and women who will be attracted to this field will have that same type of love of aviation and a desire to work extremely hard in their careers as air traffic controllers."
Brogan says the university will work with local control towers -- including those at O'Hare and Midway -- to set up internship programs.
About two-dozen schools across the country offer classes certified by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Lewis is the first Illinois school to offer the program.
