Chicago Jesuit Charged
(2007-11-05)
(wqub) - A Chicago-area Jesuit priest is in federal custody. Father Donald McGuire has been charged with traveling to Switzerland and Austria to engage in sexual conduct with a minor.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Ruder says the Jesuits placed restrictions on McGuire's contacts with minor boys as early as 2001.

"what we allege is that despite those restrictions, despite the information that he was given, what he was told, he ignored those, traveled anyway and in the process of doing that harmed a number of people.]

McGuire has previously been convicted of sexually abusing two boys and accused of molesting others.
He was arrested Thursday in Wisconsin for allegedly failing to update his sex registry listing.
He was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement Friday morning.
McGuire faces up to 15 years in prison.
A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday.
