Kane County GOP Controversy
That's because he's working on one of the candidates' campaigns.
Tony Arnold reports.
Denny Wiggins heads the Republican Party in Kane County - and recently started working on State Senator Chris Lauzen's campaign.
"And I'm just delighted that he's joined our campaign."
But Lauzen's opponents in the primary - Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns and dairy magnate Jim Oberweis - are calling for Wiggins to step down as party chair.
They say the election wouldn't be fair if he didn't resign.
Oberweis' campaign manager goes even further - saying Wiggins originally wanted to work on his campaign - but Oberweis said no.
He also accuses Lauzen of buying Wiggins off.
Again - here's Lauzen.
"I'm sorry to use such a firm word, but on the surface that's a lie."
Lauzen says he asked Wiggins to come work for him - and Wiggins wasn't going around looking for the highest bidder.
Wiggins did not return calls seeking comment.
Republican committeemen are continuing discussions over whether or not they should ask for Wiggins' resignation.
