Judge Delays Opening of Planned Parenthood Clinic
Shawn Allee reports.
The city of Aurora's investigating whether Planned Parenthood lied to get permits for its clinic site. Patients can't get in until that's done. Planned Parenthood asked a judge to fling the doors open anyway but he refused. The group's regional President Steve Trombley.
TROMBLEY: This was a very narrowly-tailored, technical ruling on the question about whether or not the judge could give injunctive relief.
The federal judge said Planned Parenthood hadn't provided enough evidence that Aurora's permit review is politically motivated. But he invited the group to try again.
Trombley says that's likely.
TROMBLEY: We are confident we did everything legal in this process. We are confident we will open our doors. The question is when.
Aurora could finish its review of Planned Parenthood's clinic sometime next week. I'm Shawn Allee, Chicago Public Radio.
