vacancies.
Stone said some defendants are having to wait several months
between court appearances while some prosecutors routinely log 60
to 80 hours a week.
The Campbell County Commission in late June approved Stone's
request to hire another attorney, but no one has been hired to fill
the job yet. The county attorney's office took another hit last
week when a prosecutor resigned.
Stone says she's hired a recent law school graduate for one of
the vacant jobs, but says he can only work as a paralegal at this
point because he hasn't yet passed the state bar exam.
