Governor Freudenthal supports Arizona's immigration law
Freudenthal's biggest concern is the expense the state would face if it was forced to police illegal immigration itself. He says it likely would require a new prison. Freudenthal admits that he is curious how the courts will eventually handle the Arizona law. He says that he believes that it IS constitutional.

Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal says he supports Arizona's efforts to get illegal immigration under control. But the governor is not pushing for Wyoming to take a similar approach, though he says he is frustrated by the lack of an adequate federal immigration policy. Freudenthal says policing immigration is a federal responsibility, "I have not been a big advocate of our passing similar legislation. I've been asked about it and it's not the end of the world if we do pass it. It's just that it seems to me that the federal government just continues to off-load its obligations. And I think that if our circumstance were as dramatic as they face in Arizona, I would probably have a different view."Freudenthal's biggest concern is the expense the state would face if it was forced to police illegal immigration itself. He says it likely would require a new prison. Freudenthal admits that he is curious how the courts will eventually handle the Arizona law. He says that he believes that it IS constitutional.
