State: Falling pipes killed oil field worker
The accident July 20 killed Boyd Bannan about 40 miles north of Lusk.
J.D. Danni with the state worker safety program says Bannan was a laborer for Buck Creek Freight, a company that does work for the oil and gas industry.
Danni says a 4 1/2-foot-tall rack holding 93,000 pounds of well casing joints collapsed on Bannan. The well operator was Lusk-based Timberline Production Company LLC and the drilling contractor was Capstar Drilling, Inc., based in Odessa, Texas.
