Bill would clarify laws against underage drinking
Jackson Republican Keith Gingery says the current law is so vague that some people have eluded convictions: "A judge ruled that you had to define what precisely they drank. Was it beer or was it hard liquor? Once they consume it we don't know. It was making it hard to get convictions."
Law enforcement officials say in some instances, an underaged person had to been seen drinking in order to get a conviction. The full House will now debate the bill.
