Alleged assault on UW campus LARAMIE, WY (wpr) - A University of Wyoming student was alleged assaulted in one of the dorms Sunday evening. The woman reported she had been studying in a study room when the incident occurred. She says a young man came in and turned off the lights and attacked her, she then screamed and fought back and the man fled. This afternoon (Monday) Laramie police arrested a suspect who is now in custody.
U-W Police Chief, Troy Lane, says the suspect is 18 years old but is not a student and has no home right now. Lane says he likely got into the dorms by mixing with a crowd of students.
"Those dorms do have card swipe access, it's just a matter of reminding folks that if you don't know who is coming with you let them swipe their own card."
Lane says the victim in this assault did not know the suspect and they do not yet know what his motivation was.
