ACLU enters lawsuit over 'snitch' allegation
(2010-01-08)

(wpr) - The American Civil Liberties Union is siding with a former Wyoming prison inmate who claims that a guard at the state prison in Rawlins had endangered his life by falsely telling other inmates that he was a snitch.
Steven Ervin filed a federal lawsuit last March against guard Justin Snell. The Wyoming Department of Corrections says Ervin was paroled from the prison in 2008 after serving time on a robbery conviction from Carbon County.
The Wyoming Attorney General's Office represents Snell and has asked a federal judge to toss Ervin's lawsuit. The AG's office says Snell never labeled Ervin a snitch.
Lawyers with the ACLU filed notice Friday that they're entering the lawsuit to represent Ervin.
