BLM changes course on Adobe Town LARAMIE, WY (wpr) - The Bureau of Land Management is deferring the auction of 15 oil and gas leases in the Adobe Town area of Southwest Wyoming. The decision comes on the heels of a protest of the lease sale by a number of conservation groups. Sharon Buccino of the Natural Resources Defense Council says this is a sign that things are changing in Washington.
"I think what you are seeing here is a recognition by this administration that you don't have drill everywhere. That we can get the oil and gas we need outside of wilderness quality lands."
A B-L-M spokesman says that they want more time to look into the implications of drilling on the 15 parcels that they are deferring, but they could be sold at a later date.
