Frontier lays off 28
(2009-10-15)
(wpr) - Frontier Refinery in Cheyenne is laying off 28 people due to the down economy. Company Spokesman Gerald Faudel blames a downturn in the gasoline market.
"The driving public is not consuming fuels as it was. The big hit actually is in the diesel fuel side, the truckers are not moving goods like they used to."
Faudel says Frontier waited to make the layoffs, with hopes that the market would turn around. 14 of the positions were full-time salaried workers who were employed in various support departments. The rest worked in the refinery labor pool.
