Wyoming Medical Center is having success recruiting doctors
About half will work for the hospital and the others will join
established practices or start their own.
Dr. Gene Ogrod, the hospital's chief medical officer, said this
week the hospital attracts doctors with sign-on bonuses and
relocation expenses, and by helping them pay student loans and
start-up expenses.
Hospital officials say they've spent about $11 million on
recruitment over the past five years. Costs include setting up a
medical group for primary care physicians, creating a hospitalist
program and financing direct recruitment costs.
Ogrod says educators, government officials, churches and other
groups have helped recruit doctors.
