Local museums see a surge in visitors
(2009-07-03)
(wpr) - Triple A is reporting that residents of the Rocky Mountain west are doing more traveling by car then other places in the country. Some Wyoming tourist spots are taking advantage of that. But while forests and national parks get a lot of attention, so are smaller museums. For instance the Little Snake River Museum in Savery is seeing more visitors then usual. Curator Debbie Allen says she has been asking families why? "People are wanting to bring their kids to more traditional type vacations. Where they are getting them away from the amusement park type things. A new trend-back to the basics."
A state official says that museums are located across the state and feature artifacts from the wild west era to local history.
