Commissioners vote to protect Adobe Town
(2008-12-17)
(wpr) - Sweetwater County Commissioners have voted to approve a resolution that asks to expand protections for the Adobe Town area in southwestern Wyoming.

The Bureau of Land management is considering allowing drilling in and near the Adobe town area something a number of groups in the state oppose. According to Sweetwater County Planner Mark Kot, the commissioners voted to expand protections to other federal lands in the area near Adobe town. Kot says they left out that northern portion because it is an checkerboard of public and private lands. Still, Kot says the resolution should carry some weight with the BLM as they make final decisions.
